I can feel the spring is coming. I saw some sprouts on my balcony garden sheds, so I transplanted them into separate pots.

My Snare Drum Conversion
Snare Drum’s head rim started creeping off, and that was made for missing a couple of beats. I re-adjusted the mount bracket a bit so that my drumstick could hit the trigger appropriately.
Along with converting my drumset, I found that other instruments were getting out of order

Anyway…I have to think of solving this chaos at my office.
Modifying Snare & Floor Tom detection
I connected two sensors to the stereo input. The head was triggered fine, but the rim was failing. I thought it would be a wiring problem. I don’t remember how many times I tested the metre to see if the wiring was secure. No luck. Was it the problem from Jack? I replaced it. No luck. Was it then perhaps a different hook wire voltage or Amp? I swapped all wires into the new ones. No luck. I am sure it used to work before. Why is it not now?
It turns out that my current drum module (DD402) actually needs to be capable of comprehending two zone signals with proper inputs, which it does not do (Fair enough, it is a low-end entry e-drum kit). I found this after connecting two piezo sensors onto the floor tom on the mono jack. That floor tom on mono jack was detecting OK.
To be honest, I don’t care about force dynamics on toms as they are mainly for the fills. However, the Hihat and Snare are a different story.
For now, I connected two sensors onto the mono-jack to expand targeting radiance. Once Megadrum is done, I may change them all to the stereo - well, at least for the snare drum, as I may need to configure the rim shot for dynamic rudiments.
Getting my hands dirty finally on Megadrum
A long time ago, I bought the Megadrum from Dmitri. As I have never done any electronic craft, I had no idea where I could start.
My ex is a hardware engineer, so I was hoping for detailed guidance. I haven’t heard anything from him for almost two months. Long story short, he became a father recently and was overwhelmed by raising a newborn. Understandable enough. So my Megadrum was sitting inside of the cabinet for a while.
In the meantime, I was working on converting my acoustic snare drum and floor tom. After converting the legit drum kit to electric trigger pads, I have had fun quite a bit.
And then the boredom kicked in. As my Medeli drum module (DD 402) is quite old, the midi controller detection and diverse zone trigger setting were unable to do so. The Hihat on my old e-drum kit got dull and started a missing couple of chokes.
I was thinking of converting it to a mono-simple three-zone cymbal temporarily. And then a thought came in - ‘Why not try to decode the manual’s data sheet on my own? If I keep waiting for the directions from my ex, it will take forever. Rather, it would be better to start my own now and ask him to review on each pause?’
So I started building the Megadrum on my own.
Once converting acoustics to electric and assembling the Megadrum kit is done, my Franken would look like this.
