Jekyll, Why are you doing this to me?

I swear, my digital garden’s search box function used to work flawlessly…now it’s suddenly having the XMLHttpRequest issue along with search.json 😩

I don’t know what’s causing this.

A new learning plan for 2023

During this December, Google Cloud Engineer lab launched extensive support to solution partners or potential solution specialists who aim to obtain a certificate. As the offer is limited for those supports, I decided to go into BootCamp mode to learn GCP solutions.

Why am I going for MS Azure and Google Cloud-related certs?

1. When it comes to actual projects, issues delaying deliveries often stem from the deeper core level of technologies, such as cloud or code-repository, including container balancers - where clients’ production repositories are integrated. I see that most of the problems come from limited knowledge of hard-core cloud computing operations rather than solution skills - sometimes.

2. Unlike Adobe cloud - which is highly tailored to handle customer data, CMS, experience, and reporting, MS and Google cloud’s business direction is more inclusively covering all areas of digital industries, including workspace and app development

3. MS and Google gave me some learning support to help me take low-cost learning paths. As those supports have a deadline (Google - End of December, MS - within 90 days since I activated the support plan)

While preparing the certs to obtain, I browsed the testing accommodation request process between each service provider. As you may know, I am a neuro-divergent who needs flexible setups and environmental support such as noise-cancelling headphones, drinking and stimming breaks, etc.

I couldn’t get any support while attending junior high or high schools in Korea, while all the university courses I have taken in the USA or some educational institutes in Australia accommodated my needs. Under the disability ACT both in USA and Australia, it’s our right to be able to request some support in order to perform our executive functions and procedure required either at work or in education.

As a usual routine, I planned to lodge my testing accommodation request.

Microsoft has the best documentation regarding testing accommodation.

Not only providing designated contacts but also MS providing further testing accommodations guidelines. They describe some examples of accommodations, such as extra time for ADHD and noise cancelling for sensory processing disorder (or Autistic individuals). Detailed articles are linked within testing accommodation pages, the first Google search result.

Google provides the request form that directly conveys the tester’s need to request. I need help finding detailed documentation regarding testing accommodations like MS’s, but they still provide the channel straightforwardly.

However, Adobe is quite disappointing to me.

After deeply searching on adobe.com or the experience platform community, I looked for any related site documentation. I have yet to find an article.

The only clue I got from adobe is this paragraph via the partner’s website.

I have emailed both contacts several times over the months and am still waiting to receive a response from the cert team. Due to that, I could not take the exam well within the time frame.

Their proctored testing provider support wanted to help me, but they could not autonomously grant my request. Testing service providers kept re-directing my inquiries to Adobe, and Adobe never replied to me regarding this matter.

It’s low-key ableism, to be honest.

I have certs from Google and MS with support from them while having no professional cert at Adobe.

Does it mean that my tech knowledge is incompetent? I don’t think so. The level of tests from Google or Microsoft should not be EASIER than Adobe. Thus, I have competently progressed my solutions specialisation within Microsoft and Google. On the other hand, I miserably failed with Adobe’s setup and framework for certifications.

Unfortunately, my current work has strong relations with Adobe partnership programs while having zero connection to MS/Google partnership leagues, so I am more pushed to be an Adobe specialist rather than Google or MS specialist…which has made me feel like I have strong imposter syndrome.

In the developer’s world - we often say, “certs or degree does not tell anything about your skill sets.” Albeit, I agree with this in terms of actual project deliveries - certs are essential to earning your ownerships in better positions while handling projects (both technical and POLITICAL reasons), primarily when you handle some enterprise services that bridge to many vendors.

It’s pretty defeating that my performance evaluation can only be reasonably processed if the protocol accommodates some conditioned individual - and Adobe does not seem to corporate at all.

Requiring accommodation does not represent that my skill and knowledge are less than neuro-typicals. Because the world is biased skewered, the neuro-divergent has more disadvantages than neuro-typical. Asking for accommodation means “Give me a fairground that will help me to perform 100% of myself.”

So I like to put kudos on Microsoft solution teams while expressing my concerns on other service platforms.
